Mark Taylor

Mark Taylor is Senior Lecturer in Quantitative Methods (Sociology) at the Sheffield Methods Institute, University of Sheffield. His research interests are in inequalities in culture, in both audiences and work, as well as quantitative methods, particularly data visualisation. He is the co-author of Culture Is Bad For You (Manchester University Press) with Orian Brook & Dave O’Brien.

His work on this project has focused on macro-level impacts of Covid-19 on the cultural sector. This includes analysis of changes in employment among creative workers, on the distribution of the Culture Recovery Fund, and changes in audience behaviour.

In addition to his work on the impact of Covid-19 on the cultural sector, he’s currently working on projects on diversity in the video games workforce, and on knowledge and attitudes towards data practices.
