Hasan Bakhshi, MBE

Hasan is the Director for the AHRC’s Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre (PEC), led by Nesta. He has published widely in academic and policy outlets on topics ranging from creative industries to technological change and macroeconomics. At the PEC, Hasan’s work has included leading the PEC’s collaboration with the Intellectual Property Office to track the cultural consumption behaviours of a cohort of adults in lockdown. Prior to Nesta, Hasan was Executive Director at Lehman Brothers, Deputy Chief Economist at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and an economist at the Bank of England. Hasan is a trustee of Darbar Arts, and sits on a number of boards relating to economics and statistics, including the Council of the Royal Economic Society. In 2015 he was awarded an MBE for services to the creative industries.
